How the subscription audit works
Add a service, its billed amount and currency, then select weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual billing. Usage is optional: enter 0 for a service you did not use, or leave it blank when unknown. Mark essential services yourself. Recommendations explain what prompted a review; you choose every action.
Reproducible formulas
- Annual equivalent: weekly amount × 52; monthly × 12; quarterly × 4; annual × 1.
- Monthly equivalent = annual equivalent ÷ 12. Cost per use = monthly equivalent ÷ monthly uses. Zero uses displays “Not used (N/A)”.
- Five-year constant-price scenario = annual equivalent × 5. It ignores future price changes, exchange rates, new taxes and expiring discounts. Include current taxes in your input.
- Payment forecast: simulate renewal charges from your next renewal date, including the start date and excluding the date 12 calendar months later. Calendar billing keeps the renewal day where possible, clamping to month end. Weekly payment counts can differ from the 52-week annual equivalent.
- Cancellation savings = avoided renewal payments within that horizon − confirmed exit fees. Already prepaid amounts are excluded; refunds are not assumed. An annual equivalent is not an immediate saving.
- Downgrade, pause and rotation scenarios use your target monthly average × 12. They describe ongoing spending, without estimating contract-specific refunds or transition costs.
Three worked examples
- A $12 monthly bill plus a $60 annual bill costs $17 per month equivalent, $204 per year and $1,020 over five constant-price years.
- A $5 weekly bill costs $260 per year equivalent, or about $21.67 per month. Using four weeks per month would understate it.
- A non-refundable $120 annual service renewing in two months has no refund from stopping today. If cancellation prevents the next renewal, it can avoid $120 in the next 12 months, less any exit fee. This is future avoided payment, not cash returned today.
Your data and this MVP's limits
Entries are processed in this browser. They are not sent by this calculator to a server or placed in the URL. Local saving is off by default; turn it on only on a trusted device. Turning it off removes the saved audit. CSV and JSON exports contain your entries, so keep them private. Do not enter bank details, account numbers or other sensitive identifiers.
Missing or past renewal dates leave the payment forecast unknown. This version assumes fixed prices and regular renewals: promotional endings, irregular charges and future foreign-exchange conversion are not modeled. For such cases, verify your actual payment schedule. We cannot discover subscriptions or cancel them for you. The tool works offline after loading; a first visit still needs the site to load.
